With my thesis collection I want to create a theme of escapism. An escape from the pandemic and all that is stressful and terrible about the world, into a dreamlike state. With flowing fabrics such as satin and charmeuse to sheer fabrics like organza as well as comforting knits, I want to tell a story of falling asleep in reality and transitioning into the dreamworld and into freedom. All silhouettes are meant to be comfortable, breathable, and effortless. With a minimal amount of complex closures, each garment is easy to get into and allows for a wide range of movement. This collection narrative was derived from an aspired feeling I wish to achieve through the garments I make. I want the feeling of freedom, of peace and liberation from all the things that are running through our lives in reality. A warm and safe feeling to allow ourselves to feel comfortable with being vulnerable in a time where we’re all on edge and separated from one another. Like feeling the warm sun on your skin after a cold rainy day.
